MUA Lipstick no 14-Review, Photos, Swatches

This is my first take on a MUA lipstick. Today's going be a review of shade 14.

MUA may be one of the most affordable brands out there, but it definitely has its goods and bads. For the price, expecting super high quality is injustice but that just doesn't mean everyone should compromise or not look for a better alternative. I have mixed views about this one.

Shade 14 is a cream finish absolute nude pink color, which most of us seek. It's the kind of shade you see on super models accompanied with dark smokey eyes. I just love the color. The packaging is pretty good. The cylinder is nice and black and has some extra product packed at the bottom. If you twist the bottom lid you can use the little amount present, when you're almost running out. And of course, it helps identify the exact shade that is inside. As for the application, it is patchy. You'll end up with more product at one place and very little at the other. The lipstick needs to be swiped at least 3 times to get an even color, but by that time the consistency just turns very creamy and it begins to feel heavy. So you can either use a brush to wear this or apply in small strokes. The texture is nice and creamy but too much of it can look messy. It has the smell of a general cosmetic product, nothing fancy. It stays on for a good 4-5 hours without eating or drinking anything otherwise it lightens gradually. It stains glasses very badly so be careful while you take a sip.

One other concern I have with this shade, is that if you have a slight tan to medium complexion, do not take photographs with this lipstick on. It looks horrible on camera. I was surprised to see how it over took the entire picture and looked so white and pale (that too without flash). I have never had such an experience with any of my lipsticks.

The MUA Lipstick comes in 16 shades and each container consists of 3.8 grams of the product.

Rating: 2.5/5

Take it:

If you prefer cream formulation
You're looking for good pigmentation
You're into neutral colors
You find it affordable

Leave it:

You don't like heavy coverage
You don't like it's fragrance
You're a medium to dark skin tone
Find reapplying bothersome.
You want to photograph with it on.

Price: Pkr 200/-
Available: Online at Just4girls.pk

Conclusion: A beautiful color seems to go to waste with all those flaws. I might try a few more colors for comparison but shade 14 does not get any love. Recommended? No.
